Haven't written for a while because I've been working on a Bible club idea file, and a name file.

Nathaniel was at school today! But he wouldn't talk to me much because I won't tutor him the hour he wants. Walker, one of the 8th grade guys I tutor, was by himself today, so we did some much needed work on vowel sounds and sounding out multi syllable words. Think we got somewhere his motivation and attention are much better now, especially with my reading From Ghetto to Glory by Bob Gibson. James Williams has been coming quite faithfully and of his own accord. He's a cute little guy and has much improved since I started working with him alone. Before, he didn't even know the vowel sounds! Today he started reading Dr. Seuss's book Red Fish, Blue Fish, did well and didn't want to stop! That's the first reading proper he's done. It inspired him after that he even read the late slip I wrote for him so he could go to his class! See, before I had all three boys together Nathaniel, James Clarke, and James Williams. Nathaniel was way ahead of the other two, and would laugh at them. And James C. was ahead of James W. and would laugh at him. With all that, plus the fact they were friends, we didn't get much accomplished. So I split them up into individual sessions.

Annie Williamson got here this morning at 8:00. She’s coming on full time staff. Barb’s been so excited. Annie’s from West Virginia and was on summer staff the summer before I came. She’ll be joining Delores, Larry and me at Broad Street. She spent the day at Barb's. Hit it off with the kids like she never knew a stranger.
